Well I wasn't going to talk about the whole McVeigh thing but I've changed my mind.

Let me say that I am 100% against the death penalty, in any case, for any reason. The state should not be in the business of murder. Before you say, "what about the victim's families? What about 'closure'?" let me further say that I know what I'm talking about. I have been the "family of the victim." That murderer is rotting away in prison. I hope he lives a very long time in that tiny cell surrounded by rough, violent men. I have also been the victim of a violent crime myself. That man was never caught. I know what the fuck I'm talking about.

I still hold true to my belief that the death penalty is absolutely wrong. Several of the diaries that I read mentioned that McVeigh wanted to die for his crime--so the state should be in the business of giving the scumbag what he wanted? Last I heard assisted suicide was still illegal in this country.

The days leading up to today have reminded me of some wild-west scene, where the gunslinger finally meets his end at a public hanging--the whole town shows up, they bring the kids and have a picnic. It's disgusting. One witness said "he didn't suffer enough." Think about that line. What did she want? A public burning? Maybe he should have been "pressed" to death, like back in the goode olde days of yore? Even that wouldn't bring back the victims.

This country was given a moral test with the McVeigh case and we fucking failed miserably.
