I decided to do an "about me" page 'cause I'm feelin' narcissistic.
Age: old enough
Gender: f
Height: 5'6"
Eyes: look in the corner!
Hair: red
Size: medium
Scars: one where I had my appendix out, one on my chin where I tripped and fell on the concrete steps leading up into our yard when I was seven (five stitches!), chicken pock scar near my right eye where I scratched, the aforementioned scar on my right foot, one on my right hand where I dropped a kitchen knife I had been (unwisely) using to shoo a spider with.
Tattoos: three
Piercings: only in my ears. Those get infected enough, I couldn't handle infections anywhere else...
Other distinguishing marks: birthmark on my upper right arm, mole just to the left (if you're looking at me) and a little below my mouth.
favorite current expression? "so sue me!"
Schooling: B.A. double major in American studies and Russian studies. Currently wading through the morass of graduate school. I got my B.A. in a series of fits and starts, sometimes working full time at a crappy service sector job while I took one class, finally just giving in to the temptation of student loan debt in order to finish before I gave up hope.
Interesting school-related fact: I was homeschooled until age 13.
Languages: English (passibly... heh), Russian (it's fading fast though).
What's my current system? purple iMac (it's getting old!) running OS X.
What's my dream compy? titanium powerbook as seen here [drool...]
So what's the deal with macs? I just like them better than windoze. PC people talke about "crazy" mac fiends, but in reality most of the PC-ers I've met are more fanatical about defending their OS--they act like I hate it before I've even said anything beyond "I own a mac..." I use PCs at school all the time. There are things I like about the PC environment, but I just like the mac better. What really irks me is all these offices and school labs that have only PCs and the powers-that-be act like macs can't do what they need, when in fact macs can do all of the required jobs to run an office or a school lab. One thing I've noticed is people who only know PCs avoid macs like they had leprosy--I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the lab to print something and there'll be a line for the PCs and a bunch of macs will be open. More for me!
First job: popcorn girl at a movie theater.
Worst job ever: 6 a.m. counter shift at a deli. 5 gallon buckets of mayonaise just should not exist. Waiting tables @ a bar is a close second, but at least there the tips were good and I could 86 the customers who pissed me off. And I could take day classes.
Invisibility or flight? flight--no question about it!
Longest movie crush: Johnny Depp. Ever since A Nightmare on Elm Street. I even watched 21 Jump Street...
Current TV? into Alias and Angel. I was a huge X-Files fan until last year. Now I watch Alias on Sunday nights.
books? it's terrible to say but I haven't had much time for outside reading since starting grad school. I've read a few (Fast Food Nation, Gangs of New York) but not as much as I'm used to.
movies? last one I saw was Signs
Current music? Ella makes the studying go by easier...
Three novels I've read more than three times: Moby Dick (Herman Melville), Absalom, Absalom (William Faulkner), Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoevsky).
Favorite Shakespeare play: is it a cliche to say Hamlet? It's so good, and you can find something different everytime you read it. King Lear is neck and neck though...
Favorite Chekhov play: The Cherry Orchard.
Three DVDs I paid full price to get: Brazil (Criterion Collection), Andrei Rublev (Criterion Collection), Evil Dead II (Anchor Bay limited edition).
Three places I want to go before I die: St. Petersberg (Russia), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Cairo (Egypt).
