about this diary thingamajig.
First of all, I treat this as a diary, meaning I sometimes post silly or stupid things, or entries that have no relevance to anyone but me (if then!). Sometimes I write things that other people might be interested in reading. I feel no obligation to write compelling entries and if I do occasionally write something that sparks interest or empathy, it is probably accidental! heh.
Since this is a diary--something that in its usual incarnation is a private monologue, read only by the author when a contemplative mood strikes--it may seem a bit, um, unpolished? (This is where I make excuses for not proofreading.) Each entry is kind of like a first draft, rushed and a little messy. The grammar is atrocious; I can't recall the last appearance of a semicolon in these pages. It honestly resembles the entries in my little brown and black pocket notebook that passes for a paper diary. Though I stay away from my personal shorthand as much as possible here.
So why write this?
I just wanted to state clearly somewhere what I think of my diary. People seem to keep dland diaries for many different reasons. Some write specifically for amusement--of themselves and their audience. Some clearly put a significant degree of effort towards crafting each entry into a creative gem. Some want lots of attention, others want a writing space their parents or friends can't easily find.
Why do I keep an online diary?
I dunno... at first it was a way to futz around with html and css, to have a free sorta-website without ads. I don't know what it is now. All I know is I like it!
